How To Wear Scuba Diving Gear

Have you ever dived deep underwater and seen nature in ways you can’t describe? That’s what happens to anyone who scuba dives for the first time, and they often get hooked right after that. Before you or anyone else can scuba dive, they need the right gear. So, what’s the right way to wear scuba diving gear?

Scuba divers need a mask, snorkel, wetsuit, and a few more things they’ll learn to use before diving. Beginners can buy or rent their equipment, though buying is often the best choice. They also need to get certified, learn basic diving skills, and prepare themselves for the journey ahead.

How To Wear Scuba Diving Gear?

  1. Remove the cylinder head cap from the cylinder.
  2. Put the BC cylinder strap on the cylinder, put the cylinder height adjustment strap on the cylinder head, make sure the cylinder head is at the same height as the BC collar, and fasten the cylinder strap. The Clamp is very stiff, be sure to keep your hand open and fingers away. The contours in the BCD should match the contours of the tank to avoid hitting your head while underwater. You will know the tank is on tight enough if you can pick up the tank by lifting the BCD with little tank movement.
  3. Loosen the dust cap of the first stage head, and put the first stage head on the cylinder, do not need to rotate very tightly. The regulator’s tightening knob should be away from the BCD.
  4. Connect the middle air pipe to the BCD controller, To attach the hose pull back the slide piece, insert male end and release the slide piece.
  5. Residual pressure gauge face down, press the second-stage head regulator, open a small section of the cylinder, hear the sound of air leakage after the cylinder open all the way to the bottom and turn back half a turn. Listen for leaks or blowouts. A leak means that you may have a loose connection. A blowout means you need to replace the tank O-ring.If you do not hear a Leak or Blowout you are good to go!
  6. Check whether the residual pressure is sufficient. You may dive with less than a full tank This will shorten your dive time.
  7. Check whether the regulator is normal air supply,Take TWO “sip’s” of Air From Your Regulator Making Sure the Air Is ON. This ensure’s you your tank is on and that the air you are provided is clean.
  8. Check whether the backup regulator is normal air supply
  9. Put on the cold suit
  10. Put on diving shoes.Put on Scuba fins.
  11. De-fog the mask
  12. Move the pipeline to the front of the body, kneel in a high position to prepare for the equipment
  13. Ask your dive partner to assist you in loading
  14. Adjust BC shoulder straps, glue on belly band, buckle belly buckle, buckle chest buckle, Be sure to secure the chest buckle, cumber bun, and stomach buckle.
  15. Put the backup regulator in place
  16. Load the counterweight
  17. Wear goggles
  18. Prepare visual inspection

Are you ready to put on a wetsuit and explore the ocean? Not quite! You need to learn a few things before you do so. For example, how can you get prepared to scuba dive? You also need to learn about how to get proper scuba diving equipment and whether male and female diving suits are different.

Scuba Diving Suit For Ladies

Male and female scuba diving suits have little differences. The shape changes slightly for women. So, the main difference between either suit is that female diving suits have a wider hip and thigh area.

For the sake of beauty, the majority of girls will buy masks. In order to better fit your face, you will sooner or later also buy. The most frequently used accessories when studying for the exam, unsuitable face glasses will lead to frequent water ingress when diving, which will affect the learning progress and mood of some beginners.

Diving before dressing yourself up, what are the dress suggestions?

1、 Do not wear or only wear a bikini/swimsuit/swim trunks

Suitable for the crowd: good body, beautiful, reveal your abs, tattoos, full breasts, waist, buttocks, and long legs.

2、 Bikini/swimsuit/swim trunks + wetsuit

Suitable for the crowd: the regular choice of most divers.

3, bikini/swimsuit/swim trunks + jellyfish suit

Suitable for the crowd: do not want to expose, exposure to the sun; too heavy and troublesome to wear a wetsuit; want to reveal the beautiful jellyfish suit; do not want to wear a communal wetsuit, etc.

4、Bikini/swimsuit/swim trunks + jellyfish suit + wetsuit

Suitable for the crowd: do not want to be so exposed to the sun; do not want the body to directly contact the public diving suit; very few are very afraid of the cold.

Those who are afraid of sunburn on their foreheads can buy their own headgear and hoods. It is said that the headgear experience is not good, it is recommended to try it before buying.

The next depends on you to choose freely according to your own situation!

Are there any special precautions women should consider before scuba diving? None at all! Men and women can both have a blast because scuba diving is great for anyone, no matter their gender.

Scuba Diving Preparation

There’s a long list of requirements before you dive. The main three are being certified, being fit, and having the proper equipment ready.

Are you a beginner? We recommend going scuba diving with an instructor. You should research the diving schools you’ll talk to before doing business with them. A quick Google search will do wonders in that area.

Mental preparation is also necessary. You need to be cool and collected while you dive underwater. There will be too many moving parts (animals, scenery, and other people), so you have to be ready to face that while you carry heavy equipment underwater.

Follow our step-by-step scuba diving guide to know how to get ready.

Scuba Gear Explained

Your Mask
You need a mask to see underwater. You can try to open your eyes without it, but you won’t get far (nor you’ll see far) that way.

Each person has a different face, so you can probably guess masks come in different shapes and sizes. You can also show a bit of your personality by choosing the right color for you, though we suggest focusing on shape and size first and color second.

Your Snorkel
Your mask will help you see underwater, and your snorkel will help you breathe better. Now, you may question why you need a snorkel when you’re carrying a big tube full of oxygen on your back, and you’d be right.

The snorkel doesn’t help you breathe underwater, but it helps you save your precious oxygen when you’re near the surface. You may be about to be out of oxygen or need to surface for a breather. That’s when the snorkel comes in handy.

Your SCUBA Unit
Did you know SCUBA is an acronym? It means Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. That’s where scuba diving comes from!

It’s also a key piece of equipment. Calling it key would be an understatement, as it’s the central piece of your scuba gear. It contains a regulator (which is so important we’ll talk about it below), a harness, a buoyancy control device, and other elements. You can buy these parts separately or together. That’s up to you.

Your Regulator
The regulator is there to help you with your oxygen needs. It’s a small piece of equipment, one that people often never heard of before their first scuba diving certification. However, it’s a must to have one.

Your regulator may save your life, or it may save your diving buddy’s life. This small thing can help you connect your oxygen to your friend’s tank if they need it.

Your Wetsuit
Wetsuits come in different shapes and sizes (similar to masks) and have several names as well. You can call them wetsuits, wetties, steamer (for longer wetsuits), and spring suits (for shorter wetsuits).

They all have the same purpose, no matter the name. They exist to keep you warm when you’re underwater.

Those scuba diving in colder places will prefer dry suits, which keep your body temperature at a decent level by keeping you dry, hence the name.

Your Weights
Weights help you descend and ascend more easily, so you can bet they’re a must. You usually attach them to a belt. How much or how heavy depend on what you need at that moment. More often than not, scuba diving weights are 1.7 to 1.8 lbs. blocks.

Your SMB
SMB stands for Surface Marker Buoy. It’s a fancy name for a signal that plenty of other people will see, keeping you out of trouble.

For example, you can use your SMB to signal incoming dive boats, so they don’t stand in your way. The proper way to use them is to deploy your SMB to help others know you’re about to ascend.

You may think it’s a bit too much, but you won’t think that if you’re diving with plenty of boats around (or above).

Your Fins
Fins are to scuba diving what running shoes are to, well, running. They help you move better, give you more speed, and are essential if you want to have a good time underwater.

You can try to dive without fins, but you’ll have a hard time controlling your body, and pushing yourself underwater will be more difficult for you than it would be if you wear a pair of fins.

Your Accessories
You can carry plenty of other things with you underwater. We’re not talking about a tent and a sleeping bag (because you’re not camping with octopuses), but you can bring a knife, lights, and a few other things with you.

For example, a knife will save you from certain tight spots, though you’ll never use it as a weapon. You’ll need it if you need to let yourself loose for some reason. Lights will help you if you find a dark spot you want to see better. The list goes on and on!

How to take off the equipment?

⦁ Cold suit, goggles, snorkel, flippers, diving shoes dried in fresh water
⦁ BC deflation
⦁ Close cylinder valve
⦁ Regulator leakage
⦁ Backup regulator is leaking
⦁ Check if the residual pressure is zero
⦁ After loosening the first stage head, open the cylinder valve a little and use the air to dry the seawater on the first stage head.
⦁ Remove the first stage head
⦁ Blow dry the cylinder dust cap in the same way
⦁ Lock the cylinder dust cap (Do not put the cap back on the cylinder head)
⦁ Loosen the BC cylinder strap and pull the cylinder out and return it to the used cylinder area
⦁ Soak the piping system into fresh water, pay attention to the first level of the head must not touch the water
⦁ Use the BC controller to fill the BC, blow and shake to clean and drain the water
⦁ Step 13 to perform 2-3 times
⦁ BC external fresh water wash and dry

Conclusion

Scuba diving is lots of fun. You need to get certified and get your diving gear before you dive. You can always rent the equipment if you’re not sure about spending too much money yet, though it’s better to buy it.
